There is only one developed campground in Capitol Reef, and this is it, which is why it books the way it does. The 71 sites sit inside the Fruita historic district among roughly 2,000 planted fruit trees, everything from cherry and apricot to almond and walnut. That puts you at the heart of the park rather than driving in each morning, with Hickman Bridge, Grand Wash and Cassidy Arch all a few minutes up the road. There is a group site for larger parties.
Tip: Pick fruit in season and get pie at the Gifford House before it sells out.
