Nights run cold up here - pack warm layers even in July.
The value here is the bench position. At 8,200 feet on Boulder Mountain you are well above the desert heat, and the drive down to Capitol Gorge, Cassidy Arch and Grand Wash is 13 to 15 miles. That combination is unusual in southern Utah, where camping close to the parks usually means a hot night. The Boulder Mountain lakes start about ten miles out, so anglers can work them by day and come back down to a developed camp.
Tip: Base camp for chasing big Boulder brookies in a dozen lakes.
