Spruces is the most modern campground on the Salt Lake Ranger District, and it shows in the details: every road, parking area, and site spur is paved, walkways are concrete, and the toilets flush. Potable water is on site, but there are no electric or water hookups, so RVs run self-contained. It sits 9.7 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon inside the Salt Lake City watershed, so the creek is closed to swimming and wading no matter how hot the day gets.
Tip: 20 minutes from SLC but feels like the Uintas. No dogs in the watershed.
