Tanners Flat is where Little Cottonwood does group camping, with seven accessible group sites laid out with grills and serving tables alongside the regular single and double family sites. Roads and parking spurs are paved, a host lives on site and sells firewood, and there is potable water, but no electric or water hookups anywhere. Sitting at 7,200 feet in the Salt Lake City watershed, it carries the strict pet ban: no dogs, cats, or horses, even inside a closed vehicle.
Tip: Climbers' base camp. Watch for moose in the willows.
Out the tent door: Lake Blanche (Hike, 4 mi) · Cecret Lake (Hike, 5 mi) · Donut Falls (Hike, 5 mi) · Bells Canyon Waterfall (Hike, 6 mi)
