The rock here is conglomerate, a wall of cemented river cobbles you climb by pulling on the stones themselves, and it draws climbers from all over the world with routes for beginners and experts alike. The campground sits right at the base of those walls, so gear stays in the tent and you walk to the routes. Come prepared, though: there are vault toilets and no water source at all. Roads and parking spurs are gravel, and one group site holds up to 25 people.
Tip: Even non-climbers should walk the Box Canyon.
