Nights run cold up here - pack warm layers even in July.
At 10,300 feet the altitude is the whole experience here, thin air, sharp light, and afternoon weather that builds and breaks in an hour. The camp sits on the plateau just back from the amphitheater rim, so the overlooks and the Ramparts trail are a walk from your site rather than a drive. If you have come up from Cedar City in a single afternoon you will feel the climb, so take the first evening easy and drink more water than seems necessary.
Tip: July wildflower festival weeks are peak everything.
