The thing to know before you point a vehicle at Red Cliffs is the underpass. The access road ducks under the interstate through tunnels that cap vehicles at under 12 feet, so anything over 11 feet 9 inches, in height or width, cannot get in at all. Past that it is a short paved run off the highway to 11 sites, most with shade shelters, accessible vault toilets, and drinking water. The Red Reef trail leaves from the reserve and follows Quail Creek upstream into the slickrock.
Tip: Spring and fall are perfect. Summer is an oven.
