Depth is what makes Quail Creek work in a place this hot. The reservoir runs about 120 feet deep across 600 acres at 3,300 feet, so the bottom stays cold enough for rainbows while the top layer holds bass and bluegill, and you can chase both in the same day. Most of the water is not even Quail Creek, it is Virgin River water piped in underground. One rule catches people out: smallmouth bass have no limit here and none may be released, so anything you catch has to be killed.
Best rigs: Texas-rig plastics on rocky dropoffs; trout on bait in the cool months
