Sand Hollow only opened in 2003, and the scale is what most people miss: 20,000 acres of park, of which 15,000 is the Sand Mountain OHV area and 1,322 is reservoir. The water is nearly twice the size of Quail Creek five miles up the road, and the park sits at 3,000 feet, low and warm. The dunes and the beach draw two different crowds to the same place. Come on a weekday if you want the quiet version.
