Sunrise sits about six miles west of Garden City near Bear Lake Summit, up in the forest rather than down among the lakeshore traffic. Facilities are deliberately plain: vault toilets and potable water, nothing else, which suits people who came to camp rather than to park an RV. A concessionaire runs it on recreation.gov reservations, so there are no walk-up sites to gamble on. The usable window is short at 7,800 feet.
Tip: Cooler than the lakeshore in July and a 15 minute drive to the beach.
Out the tent door: Bear Lake (Fishing, 8 mi) · White Pine Lake (Logan) (Hike, 9 mi) · Naomi Peak (Hike, 10 mi) · Wind Caves (Hike, 18 mi)
