Why Fish Here

This is the stretch of the Logan where bait is still legal, and that matters more than most people realize. The artificial flies and lures only regulation on the Logan starts at the Card Canyon Bridge and runs upstream, roughly three and a half miles above the top dam, so at First through Third you can fish a worm without a second thought. The three impoundments are small and easy to walk. Browns hold in the moving water between them.

How To Fish It

Best rigs: Bobber + worm at the dams; spinners between them

Bait and lures: Worms, PowerBait, spinners

Best time: Evenings. Season: All year

Local tip: Second Dam has docks and constant stocking - Logan's family go-to.

Bait: Flies (sow bugs, streamers), Rapalas, worms after rain

When: Dawn, dusk, and overcast days; fall (spawn season) fires them up
