What makes Steinaker worth a stop is the species mix. You get rainbows and largemouth bass off the same shoreline, which is rare this far up the Uinta Basin, and it means one rod setup rarely covers the day. The state park on the shore adds camping, swimming and hiking, plus OHV access, so it holds up as a family outing when the fish stop cooperating. Campsites are reservable from mid-May through the end of September, and day use opens at 6 a.m. in summer.
