Why Fish Here
Yuba is one of the few Utah waters where the limits are doubled across the board. Everything but tiger muskie comes with twice the statewide limit, and you may keep one muskie over 40 inches. It is also on the short list where you can legally use dead yellow perch for bait, which matters a lot when the walleye are keyed on perch fry. One more thing worth knowing: the doubled limits apply to the perch too, so a good perch year is a cooler-filling trip.
How To Fish It
Best rigs: Jig + crawler on the flats for eyes; spoons + steel leader for pike
Bait and lures: Crawlers, jerkbaits, big spoons
Best time: Dusk & after dark (walleye). Season: April-October
Local tip: Boom-or-bust water - when the perch cycle is up, the walleye fishing is stupid good.

Walleye
Rig: Bottom-bouncer + worm harness; jig + minnow/plastic
Bait: Nightcrawler harnesses, curly-tail grubs, jerkbaits at night
When: Low light - dawn, dusk, after dark; spring spawn run
Fish slow along rocky points and dike edges. Best eating in Utah.
Northern Pike
Rig: Steel leader + spoon or big swimbait along weedlines
Bait: 5 of Diamonds spoon, jerkbaits, dead smelt under bobber
When: Morning & evening, ice-off is hot
Razor teeth - bring pliers and a long leader.
Yellow Perch
Rig: Drop-shot two small jigs tipped with worm near bottom
Bait: Mealworms, perch meat (where legal), tiny tube jigs
When: Midday is fine - ice fishing staple
School fish. Through the ice, they save the day when trout sulk.
Rainbow Trout
Rig: Slip-bobber or sliding sinker rig, 4 lb mono line, size 8-10 baitholder
Bait: PowerBait (rainbow/garlic), nightcrawler, small spinners (Panther Martin, Jake's)
When: Early morning & last 2 hours before dark
Utah's #1 fish. If a pond got stocked this week, cast anything shiny. Perfect first fish for kids.
