Why Hike This

Most Moab hikes put you on top of the slickrock looking out. This one traces the base of the towers instead, so you spend the whole walk looking up. The Titan rises about 900 feet above its base and is often cited as the largest freestanding natural tower in the country, built of Cutler sandstone under a Moenkopi caprock and caked in red mud that makes it look half melted. There is no shade on the 2.2 miles out, so start early or come in the cool months.

The Trail

Mars-red mudstone towers; watch climbers on the Titan.

Heat note: desert country - in summer start at dawn and carry more water than feels reasonable.

Pack Loadout (Moderate)

2 liters water, trail shoes, sun layer, snacks, small first-aid kit.

Why hike Fisher Towers?
Because you get to stand under it. Fisher Towers is one of the few Utah trails where the scale reaches you from below rather than from an overlook, and the towers are world known for their climbing routes. The small BLM campground at the trailhead takes tents only, has toilets, and has no water.
