Why Go
There are very few places where you can go down a ladder into a kiva, and this is one of them. The chamber behind the museum is about a thousand years old, and dropping into that dim round room does more in thirty seconds than a wall of interpretive text. The village above it was lived in from AD 825 to 1225, four centuries at the same address. Inside, the pottery is the largest Ancestral Puebloan collection on display anywhere in the Four Corners.
