Causey is Forest Service water in the Ogden Ranger District, and a standing forest order holds boats to wakeless or trolling speed. That is why it stays quiet: no ski boats, no party coves, just canyon walls and water you mostly reach by paddling. Restrooms sit at the south end near the Skull Crack trailhead, and that is about the extent of the facilities. Kokanee cannot be kept anywhere in Utah between September 10 and November 30.

Bait: Pink squids tipped with white shoepeg corn
When: Crack of dawn - bite dies mid-morning
CLOSED to harvest during fall spawn (check dates). Turn bright red in September.
Cutthroat Trout
Rig: Strawberry: white tube jig 15-30 ft; Bear Lake: troll minnow-profile lures
Bait: Tube jigs, dead minnows (where legal), dry flies in creeks
When: Morning bite is king; ice-off is legendary
The Bonneville cutthroat is Utah's state fish. Strawberry slot: release cutts 15-22 in.

Rig: Casting spoons or worm on slip-sinker
Bait: Jake's Spin-a-lure, Kastmaster, nightcrawlers
When: Early morning; excellent through the ice
