Why Hike This
The walk is four-tenths of a mile and most of it is soft sand between two tall sandstone fins, which means real shade in a park that offers almost none. The passage between the fins is genuinely narrow in one spot, so a wide pack or a stroller is not going to fit. The Park Service asks people not to climb on or jump off the arch, which matters here because the sand floor makes it look tempting. If the stop feels too short, the trail carries on across grassland to Broken Arch.
