Why Go
Most Ancestral Puebloan sites in Utah ask you to hike in and read a rubble mound. This one was excavated, so you walk a village with its rooms and walls laid out at your feet, plus a full-size six-room replica dwelling you can step into. The museum sits at 6,700 feet in Boulder, and because half of it is indoors, a storm does not end the visit. Archaeologists call it the Coombs Site, and its artifacts mix Ancestral Puebloan and Fremont traits.
