Utah Lake covers roughly 148 square miles, which makes it a different animal from every mountain reservoir on the Wasatch Front. The state park is the developed door into it: the marina, the ramps and a small RV campground with water and power. That means a warm-water fishery, so you are working channel catfish, walleye, white bass and panfish rather than trout. One rule that surprises people: no drones, because the park sits next to Provo Airport.

- The park opened in 1967, on shoreline where the Civilian Conservation Corps had started building a marina back in 1933.
